Here at RIACHBROS Entertainment, our guiding mantra has always been "Luxury Grit"—finding the raw, unfiltered, and deeply atmospheric heartbeat within every story we tell. So, when the visionary Nathalie Bazan & team at Lying Lips Theatre Company approached us to collaborate on their bold, contemporary reimagining of Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet, we knew we had to bring something truly extraordinary to the canvas.
The production stripped away the traditional velvet and period-piece romance, replacing it with a stark, modern tension that mirrors the visceral energy we champion in our own cinematic and graphic slates.
But a production this heavy requires more than just a powerful script and dynamic staging; it demands a sonic landscape that pulls the audience directly into the psychological wreckage of Verona's star-crossed lovers.
The Power of the Monologue: Sound Design by Szymon Zmudzki
To anchor the emotional climax of the production, we turned to our elite sound designer, Szymon Zmudzki, tasking him with a massive creative challenge: engineering the definitive sonic backdrop for Juliet’s defining monologue.
Juliet’s monologue is a moment of profound isolation, terror, and resolve. Szymon’s approach wasn't just to add background noise, but to construct an immersive, evolving auditory experience that acts as a direct extension of Juliet’s internal state.
Moving the Slate Forward
Collaborations like this are the lifeblood of the RIACHBROS banner. By bridging the gap between live theatre, cinematic pacing, and high-end sound design, we continue to push the boundaries of modern British storytelling.
We want to extend a massive congratulations to Nathalie Bazan & the entire cast and crew at Lying Lips Theatre Company for their incredible dedication to this piece, and a huge thank you to Szymon for delivering a great accompanying sound design.
